Sen. Cochran recovering from medical issue at home

As Trump spoke to Fox New’s Pete Hegseth yesterday about his tax reform speech, the president once again refuted the notion that health care reform has seen another setback.

He made the announcement in an impromptu news conference on the White House lawn ahead of his departure for Indiana.

The president also says he’s looking at taking executive action to make health care changes. Trump says he may sign a executive order that would allow people to buy insurance across state lines.

The president and congressional leaders were putting the final touches on plans for the first major overhaul to the tax system in three decades, a major Trump campaign pledge that the White House hopes will give Trump a sorely needed legislative achievement.

Trump also pledged to allow companies to bring money earned overseas back to the United States without penalty to encourage investment at home. He added that he would probably sign an executive order next week to allow people to buy health insurance across state lines.

On Twitter, Trump cited “very positive signs” from Murkowski and “two others”. “But in the meantime, I have that little period of time, I’ll negotiate with the Democrats if we can come up with a fantastic health care bill, that’s okay with me. Plus, some people want to go through a process just to make themselves feel better, that’s okay”.

Republican leaders in the Senate were trying to move an Obamacare repeal-and-replace bill forward through budget reconciliation before September 30, which would allow them to pass the bill with a simple majority.

Republicans on Capitol Hill rallied around a familiar political slogan for the better part of the last seven years: “Repeal Obamacare”.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski did not announce her opposition prior to the bill being pulled, but released a statement soon after expressing deep concern with aspects of the bill, similar to Collins’.

Republicans in the Senate on Tuesday scrapped plans to bring the latest bill to repeal Obamacare up for a vote after the measure failed to receive enough support, but they said the health care issue is not dead.

Trump said, “We have 52 Senators, so you lose two, you’re out”.

Cornyn said he supported the efforts of Republican Senator Lamar Alexander and Democrat Patty Murray to reach a bipartisan deal to fix Obamacare, but warned he would not favor “a bailout for insurance companies”. “I’m nearly certain we have the votes”.

“We have to deliver on tax reform”, said South Dakota Sen.

“I’m nearly certain we have the votes”, Trump said of the so-called Graham-Cassidy healthcare legislation.
