Saints open practice in London with roster additions
National Football League on FOX sideline reporter Jen Hale shares three things fantasy players need to know about Sunday’s Saints at Miami Dolphins game in London at 8:30 a.m.
The Dolphins only arrived in London on Friday morning, unlike the Saints (1-2) who have spent the whole week in Britain as a way of getting adjusted to the time difference.
Their last game was on September, 30, 2013, nearly four years to the day of Sunday’s game.
Saints cornerback Ken Crawley also came up with an interception.
The game is on FOX at 9:30 a.m. EST.
The Dolphins, who escaped a shutout on the last play of last week’s embarrassing loss at the New York Jets, were not so fortunate this time. Only rushing for 30 yards, the entire gem of the game was perhaps QB Jay Cutler. “He took me to a game in London, and I didn’t have a team”. With Forte hobbled, Powell ran for 411 yards in the Jets’ final four games and caught 21 passes in that span. McGuire, a sixth-round pick out of Louisiana-Lafayette, has 63 yards on 13 carries.
The Dolphins fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Odds: The Saints opened as narrow 1.5-point favorites, but most books quickly widened that gap to 2.5-to-3 points. Can he bounce back from last week’s 11-carry, 16-yard performance? On both sides of the ball, the Dolphins are struggling with the passing game. He looked rusty against the Jets’ strong pass rush, and his unit went 1 for 15 on third and fourth down. In the 2009 meeting, New Orleans matched the largest comeback victory in franchise history as it overcame a 24-3 second-quarter deficit. The Dolphins still couldn’t push the ball downfield, and got beat handily because of it. Cutler and the Dolphins couldn’t get the vertical game going downfield, limiting the options he had to work with on offense.
After losing a nail bitter last weekend at the road at Buffalo, the Florida Atlantic Owls return home for a showdown with Middle Tennessee State in their Conference USA opener – with head coach Lane Kiffin looking for his first win against a FBS school since taking over as head coach. For all the grief Philbin rightfully took throughout three and a half forgettable seasons in Miami, the Dolphins’ offense was never this bad. Always confused me that John Elway and his staff could be somehow repulsed by the six-game win streak that Tebow ripped off and eager to rid themselves of the problem, but that’s another story. Miami doesn’t have the luxury of a bye.
Despite nursing a knee injury in the run-up to Sunday’s game, Ajayi made his global series bow debut after missing out on the Dolphins’ defeat to the Jets two years ago with a cracked rib.
