Week 5: Green Bay at Dallas by the numbers
The victory over Chicago boosted the Packers’ record to 3-1 heading into Sunday afternoon’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
A amusing thing happened to Green Bay free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the Packers’ game last week. Demarcus Lawrence’s sack and forced fumble were the lone highlights in an otherwise disappointing defensive outing from Dallas, as the Cowboys allowed 412 yards of total offense in the loss. I’ll put it on Green Bay here.
The play highlighted above is a subtle moment in the game, but wound up being very important as the Cowboys tried to work their way back at the end of the game.
Jason Witten (Tight End): The Green Bay defense has been bad except against opposing tight ends.
The Cowboys should have a more balanced attack in this contest as they attempt to control the clock and get both the run and pass game going early. He makes everyone around him better. David Irving’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy is over. His knee was hammered into my rib cage. The offense has continued to move the ball up and down the field, giving the Packers a chance to win.
The Rams and Denver Broncos were able to beat the Cowboys by dominating the ground game. “When asked questions like this, I’m going to answer honestly moving forward”. While his 3.8 yards per carry doesn’t look all that great on paper, Jones ran hard and showed vast potential in the Packers offense.
Green Bay is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against the NFC while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Last year, Adams was diagnosed with a concussion against the Cowboys in an October 16 game and was cleared four days later in time for a Thursday night game against Chicago.
Green Bay has been their final destination in the playoffs for entirely too long.
These two teams split the series in 2016, the Packers winning the all-important divisional round clash at AT&T Stadium in January.
Offensively, the Cowboys are averaging 23.5 points and 343.2 total yards (229.0 in passing and 114.2 in rushing).
Adams was placed in the National Football League concussion protocol after being released from the hospital, but that doesn’t mean he’ll miss Sunday’s game at Dallas.
According to the Green Bay Packers official website, Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams might both be sidelined for the Dallas Cowboys game next week and that means that Aaron Jones could end up as the starting running back in that game. Jonathan Cooper and La’el Collins have been shaky in their first season as starters on the offensive line, and Elliott’s numbers have taken a hit as a result.
The betting line indicates that the Packers are the better team on a neutral field. There were signs this unit, despite a reasonable lack of resources, might be capable of breaking out at different points during the first quarter of the season.
Ten days of rest has given the Packers a good opportunity to get healthy, and they will need all hands on deck against an NFC heavyweight like Dallas.
