Iwobi fires Nigeria to Russian Federation 2018 FIFA World Cup
Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has hailed the Super Eagles for qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
On September 23, it played host to the state and its friends as they marked the 30th anniversary of the state’s creation, even ahead of Nigeria’s 57th Independence anniversary marked on October 1.
Senegal will guarantee qualification for Russian Federation 2018 if they beat South Africa in one of their final two matches against Bafana Bafana, who kept their own hopes alive with a 3-1 home victory over Burkina Faso.
Mikel said that he was proud to be the captain of the Super Eagles and that his team was ready for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.
“The game on Saturday will be a high pressure game and I feel with Nigeria playing at home they will be more under pressure which could work to Zambia’s advantage”, Bwalya said.
“My wife is Russian and she and the kids will be in Russia to cheer us at the World Cup”. I want to draw your attention to the fact that in 5 of 6 matches there were goals in both directions, and the last two games in 2016 and 2004 ended with the same result 1: 1. The team have learnt their lessons against South Africa (in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, which Nigeria lost 2-0) and they have corrected their mistakes. “However, it is important to start early preparations for the World Cup and one way of doing this is to organise worldwide friendly matches for them”, he said.
In Group C, Khalid Boutaib’s hat-trick sent Morocco top with a 3-0 win over Gabon, who were eliminated.
Group D is tight with only one point separating Burkina Faso from third-place Senegal with Cape Verde in between.
