Bowman wins Xfinity race; 8 drivers advance in playoffs
He is now locked into the NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8.
Last week at Dover saw the last race of the first round of the Chase Playoffs and the elimination of four title hopefuls. No wins – the only track on the circuit that he has yet to win a points event at in the sport’s top series. He certainly hasn’t forgotten last year’s second-round heartbreak. The lone Stewart Haas Racing driver left in the playoffs has enough steam to be among the final eight.
Stone started her career selling programs and souvenirs in a small, white, two story house located in front of the track.
Kyle Busch is on a two-race winning streak and has become a co-favorite along with Martin Truex Jr.to win this season’s championship. Kevin Harvick will start third after looking promising earlier in the day.
For Kenseth, who starts the Round of 12 below the cut line, the strong qualifying effort was equally gratifying. “I guess right now I wouldn’t be too anxious about it because, like I said, NASCAR has a great team of security”. “Hopefully, the weather stays away and we can race while the sun is out”.
Byron remained on the track and led the way on the restart with 34 laps remaining in the race. He starts 25th. On the point, will be Denny Hamlin, who is now seventh in the playoff standings and has never won at Charlotte.
“Have to get another vehicle out and see how that works out”. “And it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, so it might not be quite as good as I was hoping, I guess, initially when we rolled it off the truck today”.
Is anyone surprised to see Martin Truex Jr. top the list at any intermediate track? Truex last missed the final 12 at MI in August, starting 13th. Over 32 races, he has finished in the top 5 15 times at Charlotte. And I think we were good off the truck today.
Anxious about sponsors or alienating a dwindling fan base, or perhaps because they agree with their owners, most drivers don’t have the desire or clout to speak out on much more than if the auto felt loose or tight headed into a turn.
Erik Jones, who won the first stage of the race, had been running with the leaders before hitting the wall with 79 laps to go.
One concern with the Hendrick drivers, including seven-time season champion Jimmie Johnson (+1000), has been dealing with the high-banking Turn 4. “Adam was trying to console me, if you will, over the radio about what our plan was and I was like ‘Just admit it man, we don’t have a plan.’ There are those moments that may still pop up but we hope they don’t”. “So another frustrating Friday, unfortunately; and we’ll be back tomorrow and we’ll have to pass a bunch of cars on Sunday”.
