A ‘bump’ in the NRA’s smooth road?
Gun control advocates are also pushing for a form of gun registration to further track what guns are being bought and how many are bought. Every time I have been disappointed. There have been several attempts to tighten the gun laws. Stephen Paddock was clearly an enemy of the American people, but our government seems powerless to know about that, much less protect us from Paddock and others like him. Their solution is, apparently, more guns and less mental health care.
The NRA has previously argued that strict regulations on firearms will only harm gun owners that abide by the law, because criminals will still ignore them. Wisconsin already has some statutes in place that deal with this issue.
Bump stocks are a useful tool for anyone interested in indiscriminate mass murder: What you lose in accuracy, you make up in volume.
Machine gun ownership is tightly regulated for regular citizens.
“Protecting our constitutional right to bear arms does not mean giving free rein to risky people to purchase the deadliest weapons on the market”. We must reinstate it. “So it really is the same thing each press of the trigger results in one bullet being fired, does not change any of the mechanics”. They are not necessary for hunting.
The motive for America’s worst mass shooting remains unknown. The point of video games like that is to kill as many people in the shortest amount of time.
Since then, Congress and even the National Rifle Association have talked about regulating guns in at least one small way – by banning a device known as a bump stock that makes a semiautomatic weapon shoot like an automatic, and was used by the Vegas shooter. We need to stop hiding behind the false narrative that enacting common sense gun policies somehow limits the rights of law abiding Americans. There should no longer be loopholes for itinerant gun shows or private sales. We should be able to ensure that an attack of this nature will never prevail again. Wisconsin does not prohibit those convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from purchasing or possessing firearms. According to CNN, there have been 273 mass shootings – where four or more people were injured or killed – in the United States since the beginning of 2017 alone.
I understand if you can now get a gun without a background check may then cause an inconvenience for you moving forward, but as a society we adapt to laws for the objective of safety. I plan to introduce legislation soon that addresses this issue.
Tucker Carlson debated gun control with an ethics lawyer who demanded that “something” be done to fix the gun violence problem in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre.
The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms, but it is silent about what those arms are. What use are all those gun controls there? He says background checks work to keep the wrong people from getting guns, but doesn’t think people should be restricted on the number of guns or ammunition they can buy.
Not only have the American media and political left lied about guns, they have also exaggerated mass shootings. Of course not. We should do everything we can to prevent another human slaughter of innocent people. Already we have seen reactions across multiple platforms of social media, which is a lovely sight to see. There are steps that can be taken without infringing Constitutional rights.
“I feel like I’m constantly on the defensive and I’m trying to raise a 13-year-old and this is what I have to tell her – we have to just assume that everybody has a gun”, she said.
