Chidambaram accuses Rajnath of distortion on terror remarks
With chances of a smooth session appearing bleak and crucial legislations getting stalled, the BJP has drummed up its political attack on the Congress leadership.
Congress’ juvenile behaviour – by not wanting to discuss even the issue of national security when Union home minister Rajnath Singh was giving a statement on the Gurdaspur terror attack – is unacceptable.
Singh then raked up a host of issues, including Hindu terrorism coined by previous UPA government, Sharm-el Sheikh fiasco and statements at Havana NAM Summit besides the 1962 war with China, to underline Congress alleged failures. “We have seen our sitting prime minister Indira Gandhi martyred to terrorism”, he said. Leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge accused the government of “doing politics” over terrorism and asserted that his party will not tolerate it. He urged Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai to expunge Singh’s comments which he had made after his statement on the Gurudaspur terror attack.
The mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, Hafiz Saeed, who is among India’s most wanted men and roams free in Pakistan, who regularly makes provocative anti-India speeches.
Singh also said the country should not stand divided on matters of terrorism. Neither Parliament nor the country should appear divided on this…
With Congress insisting that the resignation of Union minister Sushma Swaraj be part of tomorrow’s all-party meet to end logjam in Parliament, the BJP today hit back saying the opposition party has pushed itself “against the wall” by its demand and the honourable exit for it would be have a debate in the House on the Lalit Modi issue.
The Indian home minister reiterated his government’s assertion that the three terrorists responsible for attack on Gurdaspur district of Punjab came from Pakistan by crossing the Ravi river. “I also assure the house that the government will do everything possible to prevent cross-border terrorism aimed against India“, Singh said.
The minister gave details on how the terrorists crossed the worldwide border and entered India. “The Congress is afraid of this… they don’t want success of the government in parliament”, Sitharaman said.
