Prepare For A Stormy Sunday; Wind, Flood Watches In Effect

An area of low pressure will ride up the stalled front Sunday evening into Monday morning.

Winds of up to 25 miles per hour are expected Sunday across north Georgia.

We’re still on track for a major storm event later tonight, into Monday. The upper-level driver of this pattern is set to pass right over interior NY, bringing some heavy rain along with it. A high wind watch takes effect at 6 a.m. Monday and will last through the day. Showers will be arriving by dawn and will become more numerous, especially during the afternoon. A dry slot may move up the coast overnight as the storm intensifies, likely impacting parts of New Jersey overnight. Wind gusts will pickup in intensity first thing Sunday morning. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 23 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 44 miles per hour.

Union County could see up to five inches of rain in some areas, said the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain is expected to fall Sunday with western MA possibly seeing 4-to-5-inches of rainfall.

Rain starts to the west with showers crossing over areas along Interstate 81. “Although the forecast is for 1-3″, there will be pockets that receive more – perhaps 4” or more.

Presently the heaviest rain looks like it will occur over Southeastern Massachusetts as well as New York State up to Vermont.
