Tennessee Titans hold on to earn first postseason berth since 2008

If the Jaguars defeat Tennessee, the Titans would need the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers to lose on Sunday to make the postseason field.

This was supposed to be the year when long suffering Titans’ fans finally got a victor back. However, the Jaguars have something on the line, even if no playoff implications are in play.

The Tennessee Titans are 7-2 straight up and 4-4-1 against the spread in their last nine home games against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The offense never got into a sustainable rhythm and the defense, which took steps forward, never looked confident in its ability to repeat the flashes of brilliance. Steve McNair rushed for two touchdowns and Derrick Mason returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown as the Titans earned their first Super Bowl berth with a 33-14 win. Three plays later, Mariota converted the aforementioned third-and-6 with a 13-yard scramble.
