The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini Highlights
However, arguably the biggest news of the conference was the reveal of “Dark Souls #Remastered”, which is coming to the Switch later this year.
The 2008 Nintendo DS title – later re-released on iOS in 2012 – will be updated with HD visuals for the Switch release, using both Joy-Con and touchscreen controls.
Nintendo is going all out this year with new video games for the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully the switch will get other Dark Souls games in the future too. There are two modes; “hide it” and “find it”.
Other announcements included confirmation that Payday 2 was coming to Switch on February 27th, and free DLC for Super Mario Odyssey launching in February. The story mode will have players traveling across the Mushroom Kingdom participating in matches, minigames, and boss battles. Fans hoped a port running on more powerful hardware would run better and add to the overall quality of the game. It’s a beloved, influential game that is critically acclaimed and has a fanbase as passionate about it today as they were when it originally launched in.
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have also released the following image for Dark Souls Remastered. Who knew? EA actually can still make games for gamers that doesn’t appear to be trying to pull any shady business on them. Every once in a great while, though, the Xbox One outsells the PlayStation 4 for a month, and December 2017 was reportedly such a month.
The Wii U platformer Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is coming to the Switch with Funky Kong as a new playable character. The Direct also showed off new copy abilities for Kirby including Artist and Spider, and a 4-player co-op ability called the Friend Train, which allows all players to team up. The game is titled Dark Souls: Remastered and will release for all major platforms. Sure, it may a port of an old game, but it is an important game to many people. A Dark Souls Trilogy box has been announced for PlayStation 4 in Japan.
