Federer brushes past Aljaz Bedene in Melbourne opener

Will Ferrell made a special appearance to interview Roger Federer after his Australian Open win against Aljaz Bedene on Tuesday, January 16.
“I was thinking back a lot about what happened last year because it was my favourite tournament last year hands down”, he said after the win.
HOLLYWOOD superstar Will Ferrell is in Melbourne for the Australian Open and after conducting a hilarious interview with Roger Federer on Tuesday night, the Anchorman star held his own press conference at Melbourne Park today.
Federer looked just as imperious as when he won the last five games to beat Rafa Nadal in last year’s thrilling final and end a five-year wait for his 18th major.
Roger Federer fought off the challenge of Jan-Lennard Struff to move into the third round of the Australian Open.
“Maybe. Maybe not”, Federer replied. This, of course, prompted the next question from the Daddy’s Home actor.
The 36-year-old broke Struff at 2-2 in the first, with the second set following in similar fashion. ” and “are you a vampire or a witch?”.

Poor Bedene, no mean performer at world No51, can now at least say he has witnessed Federer’s brilliance first hand, having never previously faced him.
Tennis fan Ferrell is a US Open regular and attended Day One Monday in Melbourne.
The surprise reaction from Federer surely sent the crowd into a fit of laughter again just as they were settling down for the Bedene serve and they thunderously applauded Federer’s cheeky comment.
