Five Democrats joined with Republicans to back it.

He added: “For those asking, the Republicans only have 51 votes in the Senate, and they need 60”. Instead, he’s facing a government shutdown.
Mr Schumer had earlier met the U.S. president at the White House. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) did not end with an actionable deal. Some Democrats voted against the bill because it did not include measures to shield from deportation immigrants who were brought to the US illegally as children. Vice President Mike Pence is still scheduled to take off Friday evening for the Middle East.

It also said it would not discuss immigration until the government is up and running again.
“It’s nearly as if you were rooting for a shutdown and now we’ll have one and the blame should crash entirely on President Trump’s shoulders”, he said.
