Xbox Game Pass Will Now Include New Microsoft Studios Titles
Microsoft announced today that Xbox Game Pass will now include exclusives from Microsoft Studios as they release. Some of the games that will be available for Xbox One X include Forza Motorsport 7, Crackdown and Sea of Thieves. The service offers subscribers more than 160 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for a mere $9.99 per month. According to the executive, Sea of Thieves will lead the way this year, laying the groundwork for Xbox One exclusive first-party titles hitting both retail shelves and Xbox Game Pass on day one. Subscribers will be able to hold onto save files to pick right back up where the game was left off if the subscription is renewed or the game is purchased. While details about a possible Halo 6 are slim and no new Forza or Gears of War games have been officially announced, it gives fans hope that something big is coming for each in the future. Every so often, older games are swapped out for newer ones, but Microsoft has been good at messaging subscribers beforehand to let them know about changes in advance. Currently, it’s only available to buy through your console on a monthly subscription basis, but in a partnership with U.S. retailer GameStop, a six-monthly subscription card will be soon available in-store.
Just a few short days ago Phil Spencer stated that Microsoft hears its fans and will be investing more in first-party content and now they’ve got some exciting news.
It’s unclear how many Xbox One owners are paying $10/month for the service, but enough have expressed interest that Microsoft will now offer a six-month version of the subscription for a one-time $60 fee. Spencer wouldn’t be drawn on whether other publishers will be adding games as launch day inclusions to Game Pass, or what financial incentive they might have in doing so, but says the platform provides another business model for them. The price isn’t exactly cheap and it makes the device a bit more expensive than Sony’s PS4 Pro which costs for Rs 32,000.
