Locals react to Trump’s immigration proposal
Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) – are “willing to shift more” on their stance on protecting DACA recipients if it means Trump will get his border wall.
The Trump administration is open to a path to citizenship to some 1.8 million America’s so- called “Dreamers” in exchange of the Dollars 25 billion for construction of a wall along the Mexican border and other security measures, officials said today.
“People don’t understand-the one problem I think the current occupant of the White House-they don’t understand that sanctuary cities is [sic] what helps law enforcement”.
President Donald Trump’s latest deal for DACA is raising concern with some Utahns.
A telephone briefing by the White House has revealed that the POTUS will support a pathway for 1.8 million undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.
“Trump and (White House adviser) Stephen Miller killed DACA and created the crisis that immigrant youth are facing”.
Congress would have to allocate additional money, about US$5 billion, to border guards and immigration judges.
The president’s plan would allow a path to citizenship for 1.8 million undocumented immigrants out of the 11 million total who live in the United States. DACA not only gives young undocumented immigrants protection from deportation, also a work permit is part of the program that expires after two years, and is subject to renewal.
Anti-immigration activists also assailed the plan, though for the opposite reason.
“I had suggested when [Trump] called that we just have four people in the room: myself, my chief of staff, Mike Lynch, his chief of staff, Gen. [John] Kelly, and the president”, the New York Democrat told The New York Times in a podcast.
The White House will present a new immigration framework to Congress next week offering a pathway to citizenship to more than a million so-called “Dreamers” in exchange for funds for a border wall.
Democrats wanted the government spending bill to include protections for the 700,000 young immigrants which the Republicans flatly refused. “We’re going to see”.
“The Trump administration’s anti-immigrant framework is an act of staggering cowardice, which attempts to hold the #DREAMers hostage to an unmistakable campaign to make America white again”, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement Thursday night.
“DACA itself didn’t have a pathway to citizenship”, said Sen. Earlier this week, Schumer and Democrats backed a deal to reopen the government after a weekend shutdown if Republicans agreed to take up an immigration bill protecting the Dreamers.
