Britain must be bound by European Union changes during transition – EU’s Barnier
Another point of contention with eurosceptics is likely to be the role of the European Court of Justice in handling any disputes.

Mr Lidington told BBC One’s Andrew Marr Show: “Of course we will have the power to choose for ourselves whether or not to diverge once we have left the supranational legal structures of the EU”.
“We take the view that it is not particularly good democratic practice to have your country accept without any say-so anything, and particularly if the European Union takes it upon itself to do something which is actively disadvantageous to a major British industry, or something like that”. Securing a transition deal quickly is vital, he adds.
“It will continue to have all the economic benefits, therefore it must apply all the rules”, the French former minister and European commissioner said.
British officials are confident these issues will be resolved.
“There is obviously going to be a negotiation on what the implementation period looks like”, he said. “I am of the view that any sort of change in leadership is not helpful at the moment and I don’t support that, but I do think the window is closing because politics can be quite a brutal game”, he said. “The sense of urgency on our side comes from the experience of negotiations until now, it always takes longer than foreseen”.
