US investigators are interested in knowing if the Apple misled investors
Apple late Tuesday said government officials have questioned the tech giant about a software update that slowed down older iPhones, escalating a problem that has already damaged Apple’s reputation with consumers.

A number of analysts have issued reports on AAPL shares. Apple admitted the practice in December. It said, aging lithium batteries supply power erratically, which might cause iPhones to shut down suddenly to protect the sensitive circuits inside.
All rechargeable batteries used in mobile devices become less effective over time.
Most of the litigations are filed in federal court in San Jose, California, but lawsuit over the software updates is also awaiting in other federal courts around the country.
Late a year ago, Apple confirmed that it is intentionally slowing down phones with older batteries to prevent performance issues. Apple has strongly denied this suspicion. The iPhone SE 2 has been in the rumor mills for weeks, with previous reports suggesting that the latest standard edition handset will be packed with high-end features such as wireless charging and facial recognition. Apple claims that as new versions of iOS arrive, they’re more energy hungry, draining the battery faster and befuddling older batteries. They owners argued they would not have spent money on new iPhones if they had known there were other ways to fix slow performance.

The U.S. Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating Apple over its practice of throttling down older iPhone models without the knowledge of users.
The slowdowns occur when an older iPhone’s battery reaches a certain, unspecified point of low health and can be fixed if a user replaces the battery. The feature will be available for iPhone 6 and later models.
The update will include several new Animojis. The success of the iPhone X, which begins at $999, and 256GB iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus variants will help boost ASPs during the [2018 first calendar] quarter.
