Lions to name Matt Patricia as head coach this week
Thus soon after the dust had settled, Patricia had agreed to become the next coach of the Lions.
“I’m my own person with my own personality”, Patricia said. “And yes, we talked about it”.
It sounded like old-fashioned football talk – two men drinking coffee out of plastic cups while watching videos of players. “I’m not going to talk about that”.
“And I promise you, with 100 percent conviction, this is against what Bob LaMonte wanted him to do”. “There is only going to be one team that is happy in the end”.
On the last 48 hours: “It’s really been insane”. “We traveled back from Minnesota on Monday”.
Three questions into his press conference, Patricia paused to place a pencil behind his right ear, saying he needed to “get comfortable”. “I will truly cherish these past 14 years as a member of this incredible organization”. It was very much love and support. “It’s been pretty unbelievable”. All of this can’t be blamed on Patricia of course since the lack of real talent and playmakers at his disposal was downright scary but come on.
“I know his agent, Bob LaMonte”. Despite the consistent turnover on his staff, Belichick is the one constant.
On Stafford: “He’s great. I look forward to the next chapter of my career in Detroit”. He officially has a coach for that spot, with the team announcing they’ve hired Paul Pasqualoni away from Boston College. “The excitement he showed was what made me excited to be part of the game”. It’s an extremely competitive game. “I had his agent for 15 years”, Weis said.
“We also asked them about our coaching staff and they had opinions”. That’s a long way off. We didn’t do a great job of trying to execute. He also served as head coach at Connecticut (2011-13), Syracuse (1991-2004) and Western Connecticut State (1982-86). Philadelphia won that game, beating Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr, and repeated history on Sunday by beating the New England Patriots with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. I appreciate our time together.
In case you have been in a bubble, you probably know Patricia because of the bushy beard he has sported while calling the Patriots defense. I believe that I am a problem solver. Back in 1960, a Buck Shaw-led team went up against a legendary head coach and quarterback duo for one of football’s greatest dynasties. “We will be hard-working and competitive”.
It’s unclear how McDaniels’ decision will affect him regarding future opportunities with other National Football League teams, a gamble should he never get the opportunity to lead the Patriots. “In addition to being an exceptional coach, Matt’s tremendous work ethic will resonate with our fans”.
“Our goal is to win and to compete for championships”, team president Rod Wood said. Quinn has already promised to upgrade the personnel in the backfield, though he needs better offensive line play to really reap the rewards of such a move.
