Wolves want loan deal for Liverpool FC’s Sheyi Ojo
Sheyi Ojo is set to join Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season long loan.
The attacking midfielder rose through the academy at Liverpool after joining from MK Dons in 2011 but is yet to make a competitive senior appearance for the Reds.
And manager Brendan Rodgers has given the youngster the green light to hook up with Wolves to gain first-team experience.
A number of Championship clubs are thought to have sounded out Liverpool about a loan move for Ojo, but Wolves are leading the race to land the England Under-18 worldwide.
Rodgers gave the young star some game time on Sunday as the Reds travelled to the County Ground for their final pre-season fixture against Swindon Town – a match Ojo scored the victor in after some questionable goalkeeping by Liverpool-owned Lawrence Vigouroux.
The exciting attacker is highly regarded at Anfield but, although he was named on the bench twice last season, he is unlikely to break into the first-team this coming season. While the deal isn’t quite done yet, Wolves are confident one can be done, and for their part it appears Liverpool would be happy to send Ojo to the West Midlands side.
Next Ojo managed to secure himself a loan spell to Wigan Athletic, and despite their relegation, it was a sensational feat for a player of 17, playing in the competitiveness that the Championship provides.
