Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets a refresh

The Mercedes-AMG G63 will premiere at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the new-generation G-Class set for an Australian launch in the third quarter of 2018. Expect to see the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 debut at Geneva next month.

The G63 has been equipped with the tuner’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 as the standard G550.

As with all AMG models, the adaptive suspension and transmission of the G63 receive special treatment for extra performance.

Those incredible figures are enough to take the not-exactly-aerodynamic G-Class from 0-60 in around 4.3 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 137mph.

Don’t think that this large, high-performance SUV is particularly environmentally friendly, though. Lightly redesigned bumpers, new trim-specific tweaks and LED headlights are standard in the UK.

Oh and the side pipes which exit below the rear doors.

2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 generates 577 horsepower.

United Kingdom pricing and specification will be revealed at the end of March, with first cars arriving from August 2018.

The Mercedes C-Class ended 2017 as the UK’s eighth best-selling auto overall; now the German brand has revealed the first details on the heavily revised version of the vehicle that will go on sale here in the second half of this year. Instead, it is likely to be based on Merc’s MRA rear-wheel-drive architecture common to more mainstream models like the C-Class and E-Class. This mode automatically engages if the driver activates any of the G-Class’ differential locks, too. “This applies to the entire G-Class model series”. Front and rear legroom, shoulder room and elbow room have all been improved.

Customers looking for a little more luxury can add a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display, NFC wireless charging, and a Burmester sound system.

Other new developments include intuitively understandable Active Lane Change Assist and Active Emergency Stop Assist as new functions of Active Steering Assist. Numerous specifications were not revealed by the Mercedes Company.

While the vehicle’s grown to offer substantially more passenger space inside the cabin, it’s also been put on a diet. A nine-speaker Burmester surround-sound system is also available.
