Trump Suggests FBI Missed Signs Of Fla. Shooting Because Of Russia Probe
US President Donald Trump lashed out at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), describing its failure to follow up on a tip about the Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz as “very sad”, the media reported. They introduced legislation after the last mass shooting – the one at that church that was just so bad – to improve the criminal background check system the – that that shooter had sort of slipped through the cracks of the federal background check system.
He’s praising the “incredible” work of doctors, nurses and first responders who helped victims after the shooting.
Initially pleased with the Justice Department’s statement, President Trump has since griped that Rosenstein did not go far enough in declaring that he was cleared of wrongdoing, and grew angry when his national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, gave credence to the notion that Russia’s meddling affected the election, the person said.
Mayor Beam Furr said on CNN that the shooter was getting treatment at a mental health clinic for a while, but that he hadn’t been back to the clinic for more than a year. I mean, you have the Justice Department, I mean, and these indictments suggesting that Russian Federation was so involved – again, nothing clear to say that they changed the election.
Trump then joked that everybody in the room should get a raise.
The president said his visit was supposed to come later but it couldn’t wait.
Senator Rubio, who arrived with Trump in Air Force One, shared his thoughts.
“Above all this rhetoric here, again, we’re losing sight of, what is it we’re going to do about the threat posed by the Russians?”
The president asked law enforcement officers to introduce themselves and talk about what they did in the rescue efforts.
In the first hours after the Parkland shooting, the only statement from the White House was that Trump was “aware” and monitoring the situation. “The families and students of Parkland aren’t looking for a modest step”, Markey said, “they are looking for real action to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them”. They are our future.
With tears rolling down her face, Lori Alhadeff screamed into a microphone and begged the President to address the nation’s deadly gun epidemic.
Later on Thursday Jimmy Kimmel framed yet another plea for gun control as a charge to Trump directly. Cruz was previously expelled from the school for unspecified disciplinary reasons, officials said.
“I think we have to separate the issue, without any question”. “Because I was at the hospital with the parents and they are very thankful for the job”. Tighter restrictions on gun ownership would prevent pretty much all of the mass shootings in America – just as it did in every other country where they’ve done this, including the United Kingdom and Australia – and even kids know this, so why the hell don’t the elected official in Congress know this? “Say this happens”, said another student.
“This is a awful day for Parkland”, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said, speaking of the city of about 30,000 people, located 80 kilometers north of Miami. Trump added that he was working with Congress “on many fronts” but did not specify what those fronts were.
