All we know about Rev. Billy Graham’s funeral arrangements

I admired them all.

“Giulia and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of North Carolina’s finest sons, the Reverend Billy Graham”.

Graham was an active support of the United States civil rights movement in the 1950s, preaching to racially integrated congregations, the BBC reports.

Falwell believes Graham was so influential because he had one clear objective in life – to spread the gospel of Christ.

He was invited to work with Billy Graham’s association, and to be a part of one of his crusades in Tallahassee, Florida. Their friendship would last more than half a century. In his past year, he was ordained a Baptist minister. In 1943, Graham graduated from Wheaton College in IL. They married in 1943.

He received awards from the organized Jewish community and was so beloved in its precincts that in 1994, when H. R. Haldeman, a former top aide to President Richard Nixon, revealed Graham’s lacerating anti-Semitism expressed in private talks with Nixon, the Jewish community dismissed Haldeman’s account out of hand. His breakthrough came with a 1949 Los Angeles tent crusade that was scheduled for three weeks but extended to eight because of the overflow crowds he attracted.

Graham was inducted into NRB’s Hall of Fame in 1981.

Graham eventually outgrew tent revivals and would preach at some of the most famous venues in the world, such as Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden in NY and London’s Wembley Stadium. Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, were fixtures on many of Graham’s crusades.

Graham’s other four children were also evangelists. “He was never involved in any scandal at all, because he is a man of integrity”. Graham’s brother, Melvin, she turned him down because “she wanted to marry a man who was going to amount to something”.

On another occasion, Graham said the queen was preparing her annual Christmas address and asked him for feedback, which he offered. We will never know this side of heaven just how many hundreds of thousands of people have had their lives impacted for all eternity by the faithful witness and preaching of Billy Graham.

The elder Graham was an early and avid backer of Israel. I guess you could say we had that in common.
