Severe Storms Likely Tonight
But come dark, there’s a slight to marginal chance of severe thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center. Several clusters of serious to severe thunderstorms are possible well into the evening, the weather agency said.
Metro Detroit, where the mercury peaked at 92 degrees today, is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 a.m. “As the cold front gets closer, winds will shift out of the southwest to the northwest, bringing in drier air and about 30 miles per hour wind gusts”, he said.
As of mid-Sunday morning, there were no severe weather watches in the area, but that could change as the day rolls along. The temperature will reach the mid-80s.
There is a chance for thunderstorms late Saturday afternoon and into the evening.
After the strong line of storms passes, conditions should calm down overnight. The highest threat for severe weather is from Rockford and to the east into the Chicago metro.
Sunday will be more humid with a few showers and storms around dawn.
