Graham was a counselor and confidante to almost every American president since Harry Truman, but Graham himself denied he had a role in making policy.

Over 7,500 signed a petition in the United Kingdom against his planned speaking event in Blackpool for September, describing him as a “hate preacher” for his conservative views.
On Sunday, a motorcade with Graham’s remains moved through his home state of North Carolina for several hours, allowing resident to catch a glimpse and take pictures.

Yes, he preached the gospel, the evangelical understanding that a “decision for Christ” spelled the difference between heaven and hell, but he was also drawn to politicians – like a moth to a flame. “The Jewish stranglehold has got to be broken or the country’s going down the drain”. When I interviewed Graham for a PBS documentary in 1992, he insisted that Nixon was one of the “great men” he had known. He said, “I don’t advise them, I pray with them”. “And I have no power, no way to handle them, but I would stand up if under proper circumstances”.

Mother passed her faith on to daughter, and Ms. Turner said she passed it down to her five children and four great-grandchildren. “I’m sure he would have loved it”, Roger Rohrbaugh said. “I respect him. That why I’m here today”.
