NFL insiders: Seahawk Michael Bennett traded to the Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks could start next season without two of their defensive stars, Michael Bennett and Richard Sherman. Between the Eagles’ offensive and defensive lines, their drills in practice might be higher quality than some teams’ entire actual games. Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox (5.5 sacks) and rookie Derek Barnett (5 sacks) also were terrifying for opposing quarterbacks to face as well.

The Eagles had a good defense last season, but they were going to be in the market for a new pass rusher.

The Eagles weren’t supposed to get better this offseason.

The Eagles are also said to be exploring trades for cornerback Ronald Darby and possibly even quaterback Nick Foles. Bennett will cost just over $6 million against the cap this year, but the team will be able to part ways with him at anytime without suffering any cap penalties. So if the Eagles can find a way to get rid of curry without financial ramifications, they’ll be saving money while potentially upgrading performance.

Curry paced the Eagles with 41 hurries in 2017 but finished with just three sacks.

Bennett figured his time was up earlier this year with the Seahawks likely looking to go younger after they went 9-7, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Bennett has a book coming out next month titled Things That Make White People Uncomfortable.

Nevertheless, having Bennett means that the starters can be kept fresher, and kept faster. Last season it would have been $15.831 million. It’s not known whether Bennett and Jenkins have spoken on the issue.
