Trump says drug dealers should get the death penalty
The event was held to support Republican Rick Saccone who is neck and neck with Democrat Conor Lamb in a congressional district that Trump won by over 20 points in the 2016 election.
President Donald Trump is kicking off a rally outside Pittsburgh by endorsing the Republican in the special election, Rick Saccone (suh-KOHN’).
After teasing the release, he said: “Our new slogan … is going to be ‘Keep America Great!” he said as the crowd roared with approval. Trump endorsed Saccone in January, and outside Republican groups have spent more than $10 million on the race in support of Saccone, who’s weak fundraising numbers have seen him outraised by Lamb by almost five-to-one in the first seven weeks of the year. Republicans have tried to tie Lamb to Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, but Lamb has said he does not support Pelosi. He also avoids criticizing Trump.
The president warned voters on Saturday not to fall for it.
“[South Korean President Moon Jae-in] said without Donald Trump, the Olympics would have been a failure”, Trump said. “As soon as he gets in, he’s not going to vote for us”.
Trump said the United States has been running huge trade deficits, and that a lot of things have to be set straight. “I might like him”, the president quipped. “I’ll see him at the Trump rally”. He called Mr. Lamb “smart” for backing the Trump administration’s punitive tariffs on foreign steel, a policy the president called “my baby”. They munched on macaroni and cheese and pulled pork as Lamb emphasized the importance of preserving Medicare and Social Security – programs that help people maintain “basic dignity”, he said. Most Republicans do, as well.
“He believes in hard work, he believes in labor”, Biden said, referring to Lamb’s working-class credentials.
Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District has an estimated 17,000 steelworkers and nearly 90,000 voters from union households.
“Is there anything more fun than a Trump rally?” he asked on the heels of a whirlwind week in which his chief economics adviser said he was resigning, he formalised steep tariffs on steel and aluminium that angered business leaders and allies, and abruptly announced, through South Korean officials, that he meant to meet with Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader. He said countries like Singapore have fewer issues with drug addiction because of how much more harshly they punish their dealers.
And if this race is as close as people are predicting, a little boost from the president could make the difference, and, Republicans hope, prevent a political embarrassment heading into the midterms. Tim Murphy since 2002, until he resigned previous year after allegations that the anti-abortion congressman encouraged his mistress to have one. It became vacant after eight-term Congressman Tim Murphy resigned amid scandal. But he said he thinks he’s better looking, and added that Saccone “is handsome”, too. The president is looking to bolster support for Saccone as polls now have the two candidates neck in neck.
“It’s 1999, I’m on ‘Meet the Press, ‘ a show now headed by sleepy-eyes Chuck Todd”, Trump said.
“The president’s support is key to attaining victory”, Saccone told rally attendees about 45 minutes before Trump took the stage. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being here tonight.
