Drake Breaks Twitch Record While Playing Fortnite With Ninja

After a record-breaking night on twitch thanks to streamer Ninja and his star-studded Fortnite Livestream featuring Drake, Travis Scott, Kim Dot Com and even National Football League wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster Fortnite Mobile is now live on iOS devices. But the rest of you might need an explainer. Celebs playing video games and recording themselves is a huge phenomenon.

Travis shared a screenshot of his video game character on Twitter, while JuJu tweeted, “In the same week I met and recruited LeBron to the Steelers and played Fortnite with Drake, Ninja and Travis Scott”.

The stream had Ninja playing a few Fortnite matches with Drake before all four of them teamed up to play the game. Epic Games also made a smart decision in allowing cross-platform to be possible in Fortnite as it allows more players to universally play together. Taking the concept of “followers” to the next level, players can earn subscriptions from their fans, which pays out a small donation of $5 a month. Although there have been some complaints about the game’s mechanics, the game has seen a spike in popularity over the last couple months and this will send it into the stratosphere. “While most of the commercial attention has been concentrated on the potential for esports video, this example of live entertainment demonstrates the wider value of games content to the video (and music) industry”.

But the Drake-Ninja collaboration is believed to be the biggest audience for a personal, non-tournament stream. Ninja is one of the most famous people on the platform, which led to an Instagram follow by Drake, reports Kotaku. And the makers of Fortnite also win, because a ton of new people (like perhaps you, reader!) have now heard about this game because Drake played it.
