Rams have talked to Giants about trading for Odell Beckham Jr
The team recently acquired Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry via trade and he’s looking to bring in even more help to turn this franchise around.
The Rams hypothetically could give the Giants their 23rd overall pick in this year’s first round, a later round pick and perhaps wide receiver/kick returner Tavon Austin, who has just one year at an $8 million cap hit remaining on his restructured deal.
“Odell Beckham is not going to set foot on the field without a new contract agreed to, whether [with] the Giants or [with] anyone else”, Rapoport told the Good Morning Football show. Beckham missed all but six games in 2017 due to a fractured left ankle.
Naturally, those factors led to speculation about San Francisco becoming a possible landing spot for Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who might be on the trade block.
Mara said he was “tired of answering questions about Odell’s behaviour and what the latest incident is”, adding that the wideout’s latest controversy “wasn’t helpful” in terms of the team’s expectations for their star player. I mean, does anyone really think that the Rams need what is a verified headache to upset what may already be a “colorful” locker room with what additions they’ve already made?
But Beckham has drawn attention for temper tantrums and personal fouls on trhe field, and antics off it.
“I think when you’re 3-13, nobody’s untouchable”, he said.
Let Beckham stay in NY or go elsewhere.
Giants owner John Mara refused to rule out the possibility of Beckham Jr being involved in a trade earlier this week.
The question now becomes he’d be willing to play out his rookie contract with the Rams. Depending on how much they covet the No. 4 pick in the draft, assuming the first pick is untouchable, Cleveland could spin together a package to the Giants’ liking. Beckham, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by NY in the first round (12th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Both entered the National Football League in 2014, with Beckham selected in the first round by the Giants and Landry in the second by the Dolphins.
It’s fairly rare to see big time trades such as this when it’s including a star the magnitude of Beckham.
