Ndamukong Suh Agrees To One-Year Contract With Los Angeles Rams

And before the Rams have to sign him to an extension that will nearly certainly cost $30 million a year, they’re replicating what the Seahawks did early in Russell Wilson’s tenure and what the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles are doing now.
Adding Suh, who was PFF’s second-best run defender among defensive linemen last season (92.4 vs run), could quickly turn their run defense into one of their strengths in 2018. Suh was released from the Miami Dolphins and is still searching for a place to call home. He attracted widespread interest before agreeing to join the defending NFC West champion Rams. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but it’s being reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN as a $14 million deal. Now they add Suh, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All Pro. In that time, the defensive tackle recorded 15.5 sacks.
Last season with the Dolphins, Suh had 4½ sacks, the lowest total of his career in a 16-game season. He also canceled a visit with the Oakland Raiders.
Here’s what I believe happened: When the deadline passed, the Jets, sensing that their chances of landing Suh were slim, made the face-saving move to rescind the offer in a very public way: an announcement by Johnson.
A three-time All-Pro, Suh is an elite talent, but he’s also earned a reputation as a dirty player. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Titans and Jets both offered Suh more money, but the chance to compete for a championship is simply greater with the Rams.
Suh entered the league when the Detroit Lions used the second overall pick on him in the 2010 draft, and he quickly developed into a dominant defensive force. Suh and Donald will undoubtedly give opposing QBs and play-callers nightmares.
The Rams have signed a number of high-profile defensive stars this offseason, a list that includes Suh, Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.
Suh is an OR native who starred at Nebraska before joining the Lions as the second overall pick in the 2010 draft.
