Conte will leave Chelsea, says Gary Neville
Dele Alli’s second-half brace secured Tottenham their first league win at Stamford Bridge in 28 years.
Chelsea have an FA Cup semi-final against struggling Southampton in three weeks and are strong favourites to make it to the May 19 final against either Manchester United or Spurs.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte cut a solemn figure on the sidelines, and he found himself referring to numerous same arguments he’d made earlier in the season about his limitations of the London club.
“When we were down against Chelsea, the team showed great quality and deserved the victory”, Pochettino said.
Antonio Conte will not be at Chelsea next season, but short-termism is part of the way the club work, says Gary Neville.
Kane now hopes to rediscover his scoring touch and reignite the race for the Premier League’s golden boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who is five goals ahead of him on 29.
Conte said: “I think we created a lot of problems for Tottenham, but the difference was Tottenham were far more clinical than us”.
Conte felt it knocked the confidence of his players, he added: “I think our performance was good, especially in the first half”.
The Italian manager was reported by the British media to have been at odds with the club over the need to strengthen the squad in the transfer window earlier this season.
“Winning the last seven games has to be the target and we have to wait for others to lose”.
Wright noted that the Premier League champions could find it hard to bring in a big manager to the club if the Blues owner, Roman Abramovich eventually sacks Conte at the end of the season.
This effort was much scrappier than his first but nonetheless important as he fired home from six-yards after a goalmouth scramble, where Chelsea’s defenders failed to clear their lines. “This is the most competitive league in the world and there are a lot of great teams but we’ve reduced the gap to them. If we are in this position, we deserve to be in this position”.
But Conte is not anxious, expressing his belief that both he and his players have given everything this season.
