Kevin De Bruyne believe he & Salah proved Mourinho wrong

Their win against United will see them win the Premier League title but defeating his former boss doesn’t matter to him.

Mourinho was not quite as diplomatic when De Bruyne left Chelsea for Wolfsburg in a £18million deal, spending 19 months in Germany before returning to the Premier League with City for £55m.

“The volume is always up”, said De Bruyne, City’s player of the season, who has driven their title challenge with ruthless brilliance throughout.

De Bruyne, too, has been a standout performer in the top flight.

“He’s up there with [Harry] Kane, me and David [Silva]”.

Operating in a more withdrawn role in central midfield this season is getting the best out of De Bruyne thanks to his tireless running, vision and ability to control matches. I think if the coach wants to speak with you then you just do it. I don’t mind supporters doing that – I’ve had it a couple of times for my team and it’s a nice feeling.

“I think we had a 10-minute spell when we lost control of the game”.

Since then, he has become one of the best players in the world, starring for Pep Guardiola’s side this season as a potential PFA Player of the Year.

The Young Player of the Year award is for players age 23 or younger, and can be won multiple times.

“I think Jurgen is a master to buy players with what he really needs for the way he wants to play”. “I have confidence in our team and the way we play”.

Unsurprisingly, De Bruyne and Jose weren’t close at Chelsea – but the midfielder conceded that he prefers to keep his distance from his managers.

“Asked what impact the Catalan has had on his career, De Bruyne added: “[He has taught me] The mixture between keeping it easy and taking my chances.

On the face of it, de Bruyne should maintain the status quo by becoming another EPL title victor to land both prestigious accolades as City’s grand conductor in his side’s impending coronation.

“Since I came here, he’s been unbelievable, he helped my game in a lot of ways”.
