Resident Evil 2 remake pitched at Capcom, success remains unknown
But at least it does seem like there’s suddenly a bunch of interest in maybe possibly potentially finally putting together a re-release of Resident Evil 2 at Capcom.
Still, this is a pretty fast, but good development since Capcom opened a mini forum in its official Facebook page in July.
The producer posted a photo of his pitch on Facebook, which was titled “Biohazard 2: New Rebirth Project”, and wrote that he started working on the pitch after “RE HD Remaster” was completed. “So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already…” says Hirabayashi.
Despite actually revealing that he has indeed pitched the project to his superiors, Hirabayashi ultimately refrained from saying whether or not his proposal was successful. It’s possible that the game could be over-the-shoulder shooting like all the other recent games, but something tells me Hirabayashi wants to stay loyal to the source material.
These skilled modders are taking the less-than-ideal Resident Evil 4 HD PC release and making it that much better through skilled texture work and the like. The download should cover the first section of the game, beginning with the opening and ending with Leon entering Salazaar’s castle for the first time.
But even though the prospect of a Resident Evil 2 remake is exciting, there’s the understanding that these things take time.
For more on the survival horror sequel, IGN revisited Resident Evil 2 a few years ago.
This will be a huge test to see if Capcom’s newest generation of developers are ready to get the company back up to its classic standards. This include involvement in the visual and animation departments for “Resident Evil 5″ and the original game in the franchise.
Cris and Albert aim to improve all the textures in Resident Evil 4, including those in Mercenaries and Ada’s side-story minigame Separate Ways.
