Portland Trail Blazers: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason
The Pelicans are playing just fine without him and one of the reasons why is Anthony Davis. Instead, New Orleans rallied to finish sixth in the West and is now moving on to the second round after sweeping the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers. Yet Anthony Davis and Co. beat the Portland 131-123 Saturday afternoon to complete a four-game sweep, which once seemed improbable.
The Pelicans have been that red-hot over the last two weeks. “I see these two guys every night what they do when I go back and watch film”.
That No. 3 seed was great until they had to play the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.
The main cause for concern, obviously, is who on the Warriors is going to help limit Anthony Davis.
Next up for the Pelicans, likely the Golden State Warriors, who are now without Stephen Curry. Golden State thrives in small-ball situations, and while Green can’t stop Davis, he’ll make him work while the Warriors have the opportunity to jack up the pace and launch 3-pointers until New Orleans begs for mercy. The second question was about their possible second-round opponent Golden State.
“I just think we’re locked in”.
Ernie Johnson: “Lillard has turned the ball over 15 times”. Anyone who plays them in the upcoming weeks should be freakin’ out. “I didn’t come here to win a first or second round series”.
In Game 4, Holiday scored 41 points, marking a personal playoff career-high and the second-highest total in Pelicans history (behind Davis).
Nikola Mirotic is a very good shooter, but he isn’t very good defensively.
Jrue Holiday has been excellent against the likes of Oakland-native, Damian Lillard, averaging 23.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.7 steals on 53.4 percent shooting from the field, 38.5 percent shooting from behind the arc. New Orleans had the momentum. “We knew we had to play our best game of the series”, head coach Alvin Gentry said. Rajon Rondo added 16 assists.
“I’m not sure. I’m not the guy making decisions”, he said. The domination, the way they executed, was a message to the world that they are not a team to take lightly.
Regardless, Turner shared his assessment that the team failed to have an adequate game plan for a scenario where their two best players are neutralized. “We believe in each other”, Rondo continued. I just tried to be aggressive.
“Unlocked Jrue is pretty risky and we all see how Rondo plays”.
The Portland Trail Blazers have a lot of roster deficiencies, and those shortcomings have been surely noted.
“He’s had it hard”. The Spurs managed to get a win against the defending champs despite missing their best player and now their head coach indefinitely. It’s likely too late to turn that around now, but he may still be able to get at least one good performance in. “You have to give credit where it’s due”. And he’s also a great dude.
As for the Pelicans, Davis, Mirotic, Rondo, and Holiday have been consistent fantasy-wise.
