FKA Twigs unveils brand new track ‘Figure 8′

Twigs has already been incorporating “Figure 8” into her live show and the track will appear on her forthcoming EP, the release date and title of which have yet to be announced. The singer tells Lowe the record’s been done since last November, and the videos, including one for “Figure 8” have all been shot. Eventually, twigs’ angelic voice breaks through, accenting the track’s booming background. Angelic yet robotic, Twigs’ vocal performance invades its listener mysteriously. Voguing is a style of dance that started in the mid-’80s by marginalized clubgoers in New York. It was this newfound hobby that inspired the track. After killing it at Lollapalooza, twigs spoke with MTV News about her new sound, claiming, “It’s very raw and quite dark in places, but you’ve just got to go through it to get to the light”. “Every single move has to flow into the other, like the eternal move that never stops moving”. “Figure 8” is a reflection of my mind-state, and landing in New York and finding something I felt I could hold on to keep me sane.
