Shaquem Griffin discovers he’s teaming up with twin brother on Seattle Seahawks

Shaquem Griffin was in attendance in Dallas when his name was called at the 2018 NFL Draft.

“It was like I was dreaming”, Shaquem said. Now the next chapter can officially begin for the highly-touted linebacker from Central Florida.

When he received a phone call from Seahawks general manager, John Schneider, and Coach Pete Carroll to notify him, the UCF star repeatedly said he was out of breath and overwhelmed.

With the 141st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks pulled the trigger and picked Griffin. Richard Sherman, now with the San Francisco 49ers, and Kam Chancellor were both fifth-round picks and anchored the defensive backfield in Seattle for years.

And, despite having had his left hand amputated because of amniotic band syndrome, Shaquem vindicated UCF’s decision to take that chance. Griffin lost his hand at the young age of four. “The ball carriers will be faster and stronger than those at the college level, requiring the defensive players to have good technique to bring them to the ground and end the play”. That didn’t stop him from becoming one of the best college linebackers in the country.

Against Auburn, Griffin had 12 tackles, six solo and six assisted, along with 1.5 sacks. That would have ranked sixth among linebackers at the Combine.

Griffin, whose twin brother Shaquill was selected by the Seahawks in the third round a year ago, was in attendance at Dallas’ AT&T Stadium to hear his name called at the 2018 NFL Draft.

Shaquill Griffin, who was born one minute before his twin, was also overjoyed. He is an inspiration to all people and the message within his story is never give up when adversity knocks on the door, keep striving, working hard, and have faith in everything that you do. It is only the beginning, however.

Griffin, the National Football League 2018 Draft’s 141st selection, was picked by the Seattle Seahawks, the news outlet writes. All of these assets will be important for him and the Seahawks if he wants to see playing time in a newly revamped NFC West division. He hopes that he becomes a good one.
