The RNC Just Rigged the 2020 GOP Primaries

Trump gained every of the 4 states holding primaries Tuesday. Voters will pick from crowded but slightly different fields as they select the top two candidates for an August 7 special runoff election to fill the vacancy, and for the November general election. Former Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown is trying to oust U.S. Rep. Al Lawson in Congressional District 5 in North Florida.

The main Democrat for the seat is Marine veteran Dan McCready, who has raised almost $2 million, barely greater than Harris and Pittenger mixed, in a district Trump gained by about 12 share factors.

The Republican primary has been particularly nasty. Three Democrats also qualified in the district that covers Alachua, Bradford, Clay, Putnam and several other North-Central Florida counties. “My wife and I were lifelong conservatives and Republicans living in a county that was, you know, completely Democratic in all the offices”.

Braun says he voted in Democratic primaries in the past because in his southern in home Democrats held all the local offices.

In Indiana, Republicans will pick from among three Senate candidates who have spent much of the race praising Trump and bashing each other. The seat is open following longtime Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s decision not to seek re-election.

IN is home to perhaps the bitterest Republican primary in the country, with all three candidates scrambling to show voters their Trump bona fides and face incumbent Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly in the November election.

To vote in the Democratic primary, you must be registered as a Democrat. “I think it is a great tool that more parties should use”.

But Republicans should feel encouraged by the only exception to that rule since FDR: in 2002, George W. Bush defied history and Republicans gained strength in both the House and Senate.

Each major political party’s primary ballot will feature a four-way contest among candidates vying to be that party’s standard-bearer in this year’s race for governor.

The Coweta County Republican Party has placed two questions on the Republican ballot, and the Georgia Democratic Party has included four questions. The GOP field includes former state Rep. Neil Combee of Polk County and state Rep. Ross Spano of Dover.

The Colorado Secretary of State’s Office has certified the lists of congressional and state government candidates whose names will appear on this year’s GOP and Democratic primary ballots.

Braun, who owns a distribution and freight company, says he would not have launched his Republican effort for the U.S. Senate if Trump had not blazed the trail two years ago. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who heads Senate Democrats’ campaign committee.
