Google’s Smart Compose for Gmail will help you write e-mails; here’s how
The Applications of artificial intelligence is on a constant rise and one of it got highlighted in the Google’s annual conference. Google is putting its machine learning chops into Smart Compose to allow it to intelligently make suggestions that work in the context of a sentence or email a user is drafting.
The feature is in line with Gmail’s Smart Reply which comprehends the format of the new email and proposes short expressions to answer it. You will see the auto complete suggestion on your computer screen, and if it is what you intend to type, just hit the Tab.
When Google Maps users pull up directions, they can look through their camera in Maps and get turn-by-turn directions while viewing the actual street. As you type a reply to an email, Gmail will now offer suggestions as you type.
Other Google features such as the calendar, Google Tasks, and Google Keep, are all visible on the right side of the inbox. Well, at least according to Google, which is why today at Google I/O, the company announced a new Gmail feature called Smart Compose.
In addition to Smart Compose, Google also announced new features for Google Photos. To do so, simply navigate to the Settings menu, and choose “Try the new Gmail”. That means it will suggest phrases and sentences, using artificial intelligence technology.
The feature builds on last year’s Smart Reply, which appeared on the Gmail mobile app last year. Android P will come standard with a new feature called adaptive battery, which will conserve your phone battery life by predicting which apps you use often, and others you don’t, by utilizing less CPU power. It also reduces the chance of spelling and grammatical errors. After the new Gmail is active, go back to Settings – General – and scroll down to “Experimental Access”.
A Google spokesperson told the Daily Dot that Smart Compose is “trained on billions of common phrases and sentences”. This will crop the photo to make the document as readable as possible, but it will also automatically convert the file to PDF so that it is easier to share.
