Mowgli movie trailer: DARKER Jungle Book with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Shere Khan
The film had which been delayed to work on the technology and presentation, as well as to get some distance from Disney’s recent live-action adaptation.
It’s an effort which has undoubtedly taken its time to put together though.
I, for one, will most definitely see this on the largest screen possible. Hardcore fans of the classic book will be impressed.
Well, I must be honest that I like what I saw.
The two minutes long trailer opens with a dreary sight: Mowgli caught in a cage by the village people while Bale’s brawny voice is heard saying, “You have only heard stories of the jungle”. Its grittier tone is something which I would like explored.
The protagonist Mowgli will be played by Rohan Chand with Matthew Rhys, and Freida Pinto. The film hits United Kingdom cinemas on 19 October this year.
Based on the stories of Rudyard Kipling and directed by Andy Serkis, Mowgli is scheduled for release on October 19. Steering away from the fairy tale aspect about a boy living amongst animals, Serkis says his film is grounded in reality. There is real effect. A new take on a well-trodden work is by no means a bad thing but, judging from this trailer, this new take may not be as good as any of us want or hope it to be.
Like Jon Favreau’s Disney film, Mowgli also features a formidable cast.
Serkis – who created The Imaginarium Studios production company which specialises in motion capture technology – admits morphing the actors likenesses with the animals they play provided a wealth of unique challenges.
Perhaps the star who makes the biggest impression in the trailer though is Benedict Cumberbatch, who seems perfectly cast as the terrifying tiger Shere Khan.
Serkis has previously stated he wanted to tell the story of Mowgli as an outsider and survivor.
Mowgli will release on 19 Oct 2018 and stars Rohan Chand in the lead.
