John Goodman Responds to Roseanne Cancellation
Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel said Wednesday that Barr needs help amid the fallout over the tweet and the cancellation of “Roseanne”, and issued a rebuke for those attacking her on social media.
Not long after “Ambien” began trending on Twitter, the sleep aid’s creator, Sanofi, fired back, writing, “Racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication”.
She also insinuated she was a victim in this situation, tweeting, “I think I spent the last 24 hours watching the party of inclusion, diversity, understanding, and acceptance, lynch a Jew”.
After Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist remark toward former President Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, the reboot for Barr’s eponymous ’90s show was canceled and reruns of the original were pulled from syndication. Trump doesn’t get an apology because he’s the leader of a democracy and that means he needs to be held to account by his citizens.
Barr’s post-firing tweets included an apology to those who lost their jobs because of her words, but her choice of retweets struck a defiant tone.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancel her show”, Dungey’s statement read. I blame them on YOU and yr ignorant comments about #ValerieJarrett! “I begged4 ppls jobs”, she wrote.
She also faulted Iger for not apologizing to Trump after ESPN personality Jemele Hill called Trump a “white supremacist”.
In the past, the Republican president has cited the program’s popularity as evidence that his supporters, who include Barr, want shows that speak to their concerns.
Trump on Wednesday night tweeted that Iger never apologized to him for “the frightful statements made and said about me on ABC”.
Barr also said she “intended to bring ppl together” and said it was “a joyous experience” to get “to work on the Roseanne show again”. Jarrett, who is African-American and was born in Shiraz, Iran, is neither Muslim nor a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Finally, Arnold, who married Barr in 1990 and split from her in 1994, concluded, “It has been 24 years, so I don’t know that I know who Roseanne is”.
Despite apologising for her negative comment about former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett and claiming she was quitting Twitter in remorse, Barr is still using the website to fight her corner.
Sanofi, the company that makes Ambien, rebuffed the assertion Wednesday on Twitter.
