Apple is bringing iOS apps to the Mac – sort of

Neither Steam nor Apple commented last week on why the app was rejected, and neither responded to requests for comment on Monday about whether the new App Store rules were indeed aimed at Steam.

The first major announcement at this year’s keynote was iOS 12. But Apple said that the macOS will hide most of this information from websites.

Apps will now open 40 percent faster and the camera function will also be quicker to access. Rather, they were shown to let software developers start building apps to make iPhones and other Apple devices more useful.

The iPhone’s new Screentime app in iOS 12 allows users to see detailed reports about how frequently they use their phone and, specifically, individual apps, too.

Apple announced some new updates to its personal assistant, Siri.

Apple also demonstrated improvements to its Siri voice assistant. The company is also creating more entertainment options and new ways to communicate, including group video chats through FaceTime and more options for the iPhone X’s animated emojis.

Animoji got an update as well, letting users stick their tongues out and new versions, including Ghost, Koala, Tiger and T. rex.

Announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose today, iOS 12 features include an update to its AR technology, Siri and overall performance speed. Apple said Safari will now ask users by default if they want a site to send them cookies, and macOS will make it more hard for data companies to create an online fingerprint of a user’s machine.

In all, it’s more evolution than outright revolution, but there are some pretty substantial features, there, and it ups the game in some important respects.

Parents can also set limits, using “Allowances” to allow their children ertain amounts of time on their devices.

You are probably reading this and thinking to yourself: sure, this is cool, but it will take years for this to come to Pokemon GO. The company said the operating system would work on the same devices as iOS 11, a range of products that date back to 2013. Yup, Watch users will be able to send short audio messages to each other with a tap. App Limits will allow you to set time limits for specific apps, and while they can be ignored by a regular user, a managed phone will be reinforced.
