Death of man in Sligo treated as ‘suspicious’
The body of the man, who was in his 50s, was found in an apartment Holborn Street at 1pm on Monday.
The man, named locally as Matt Kivelehen, was found dead in his apartment yesterday.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Sligo.
The Office of the State Pathologist was informed.
The man’s body has been removed to Sligo Regional Hospital where a port mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.
The investigation is ongoing.
Mr Kivlehan was a tradesman who played banjo in local pubs.
Sligo gardaí have set up an incident room and anyone who can assist their investigation can call 071 9157000.
“A nice man” Local Sligo county councillor Séamus O’Boyle (PBP) said he had known Mr Kivlehan for 30 years.
It was reported he had received stab wounds, and Gardai are treating the death as suspicious.
He said that he was well known within the community and was “a character that was very well respected within the community”.
He lived on his own.
