Weather Authority: Excessive Heat Warning

We can still expect high temperatures to top out in the low 90s Thursday and Friday with high humidity.

An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of southeastern MI.

The final day of June on Saturday brought the first day of temperatures soaring well into the 90s.

As you step outside on this Saturday you’ll feel the humidity right away. A Code Orange air quality alert is in effect for the entire region and is expected to continue over the next several days.

Steamy conditions are in store Sunday night with the low around 79 and only light winds.

MONDAY: A mainly sunny sky.

Warm and humid weather is expected on the Fourth of July as well. This system will bring storm chances late into Sudnay evening, carrying through the overnight hours of Monday.

An Excessive Heat Warning continues in effect for the entire Chicago area, including Chicago as well as northern IL into northwest in into the overnight hours Saturday night (reference the purple-shaded area on the headlined map) – The Excessive Heat Warning is extended through Sunday for the city of Chicago.

Today’s record high of 101 degrees was set in 1934. Drink fluids often, even if you do not feel thirsty.

Additionally, beware of leaving children or pets in a locked auto.

In Milwaukee, residents did what they could to find creative ways to cool down on Saturday, from hitting up splash pads at parks to stopping by the ice cream truck.

If possible, you should try to stay indoors or in the shade. Those looking to cool down are urged to visit one of the cooling centers or pools at a Boston Centers for Youth and Families location.

Though the temperatures over the Northeast will not reach the extreme highs of the Midwest and Central Plains, the duration of the heat will be significantly longer.
