HTC to release blockchain phone ‘Exodus’ in third quarter of calendar 2018

The company also announced a partnership with Cryptokitties, the first game to feature blockchain technology, which will come preuploaded on all of the HTC devices. Today it became known that the blockchain smartphone Exodus is nearly ready for release, and that it will be released very soon.

The company hasn’t revealed a lot of technical specifications of the handset so far, though.

Following earlier reports, struggling smartphone manufacturer, HTC, has revealed its revolutionary blockchain powered smartphone will launch later this year.

The Taiwan firm aims to build up an ecosystem of blockchain-based applications in the future. Speaking to The Verge, Chen said that the phone’s price will be confirmed in the third quarter of 2018 while it will be released in the market by the end of this year. Further, the site mentions that the goal of introducing the world’s first blockchain phone is to decentralize apps and security. It appears that HTC is looking to make all its devices blockchain-friendly, not just the Exodus. While other details are missing, it is all about decentralized internet and apps with the ability to locally store data on the device itself, rather than on the cloud.

Prior to the launch, the company is partnering with the popular blockchain title, CryptoKitties. On July 11, HTC in Hong Kong officially announced the smartphone, now ready to arrive on the market.

As of now, there are no details on how exactly HTC hopes to “reshape the Internet” or boost its financial prospects through the latest investment projects.

As well as cryptocurrency prices, HTC recently has been through hard times.
