Trump sets expectations low for Helsinki summit with Putin
Trump, who has been preparing for the summit by playing golf at his Trump Turnberry course on the western coast of Scotland, told CBS in an interview that “nothing bad” would come out of the summit with Putin.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says the indictments are “further proof of what everyone but the president seems to understand: President Putin is an adversary who interfered in our elections to help President Trump win”. “We can do more, so if you want to do an arms race you’ll lose”, according to the report.
Trump complained: “No matter how well I do at the Summit”, he’ll face “criticism that it wasn’t good enough”. Big banners said “Welcome Trump” and “God Bless D & M Trump” and a helicopter hovered overhead. “Doesn’t that contribute to exactly the kind of undermining of the free press that we see out of Russian Federation?” But it could lead to productive-something very productive. “But I think meeting with people is great”.
Bolton said Trump would talk about the issue with Putin.
Trump raised the meddling issue during his first meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hamburg a year ago.

“I don’t go around telling the president what to do”, said Jay Ashcroft, the Republican secretary of state in Missouri.
“So we’re protecting Germany”. “In general, European countries are more reliable and predictable partners than the USA”. Pure stupidity. But it makes it very hard to do something with Russian Federation.
Trump left for Helsinki on Sunday after labelling Russian Federation “a foe”, along with the European Union and China, in an interview aired on the eve of his first one-on-one summit with the Kremlin boss.
“Great success today at North Atlantic Treaty Organisation!”
The charges put an even greater spotlight on Trump’s treatment of Putin, who has denied making efforts to intervene in the USA election that Trump, a Republican, unexpectedly won.
A joint press conference now confirmed by the USA will be the last event on the schedule.
Putin has less reason to cheer Trump’s imposition of trade tariffs on countries including Russian Federation, and from his decision to abandon a landmark nuclear pact with Iran.
“The relationship between our two nations is indispensable to the cause of liberty, justice, and peace”, Trump said. Resumption of “normal” diplomatic relations -at least bringing the mutual expulsions of diplomats to an end- will likely be among the priorities for Moscow as well.
The protesters were among the tens of thousands who came out in Scotland and England in opposition to the US President’s visit.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has warned U.S. President Donald Trump against making any unilateral deals with Russian Federation that come with a cost for the United States’ Western allies. That put Rosenstein in charge, and he promptly appointed former FBI Director Mueller as special counsel. These officials cooked up the “fictitious” online identity of Guccifer 2.0, prosecutors said.
In addition to releasing to documents to the public, the defendants also transferred the documents to another organization. The entity is not named in the indictment.
While U.S. intelligence agencies have long blamed Russian Federation for the hack, Friday’s indictment lays out for the first time the details of how it is believed to have been carried out by two Moscow-based GRU departments, Units 26165 and 74455. The indictment does not allege that Trump campaign associates were involved in the hacking efforts or that any American was knowingly in contact with Russian intelligence officers. There’s also no allegation as yet that any attempts to meddle with the election systems affected the outcome of the presidential vote.
But Jon Huntsman, the USA ambassador to Russian Federation, said Monday’s meeting “is really the first time for both presidents to actually sit across the table and have a conversation, and I hope it’s a detailed conversation about where we might be able to find some overlapping and shared interests”.
“The Russians take the position – you can like it or not like it – that their constitution forbids them to extradite Russian citizens”. “Why didn’t they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in September, before the Election?”
First Lady Melania Trump has accompanied the president throughout his trip.
