Anthony Joshua Alexander Povetkin interrupted by Jarrell Big Baby Miller angry confrontation
“Manny looked good, he boxed well”.
Joshua was midway through his first face-off with Alexander Povetkin, the challenger to his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles, when Miller barged onto the stage.
Joshua puts his WBA, IBF and WBO titles on the line against Povetkin on 22nd September at Wembley Stadium in London. I’ve secured the date, location, my side has been signed. I’ve built my mindset over the last 10 years. “For the fans it’s an opportunity for them to get what they want in a low-priced environment where we don’t need coaxial cable or have to launch satellites”.
Povetkin is also friends with Russian president Vladimir Putin, and Povetkin said: “I am very well deserved of the fight I am getting”.
“We’ve done everything”, Wilder said. “And we have a direct link where we know what they like and can serve them the content they like”.
“Listen Britain – you’ve seen fake models. We did everything, we did everything”.
Both Joshua and Miller were in attendance for the launch of DAZN, the new streaming service which has partnered with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing brand, and made it clear that they are not the best of friends.
“It will never happen because I would rather take a loss than be caught doping, which is far worse for your legacy”. I’ve been fighting 10 years now and I’ve always done it for fun.
“They don’t want to watch us negotiate in the ring, they want to watch us go to war, and that’s what I stand for”.
ESPN signed a deal with promoter Top Rank past year to air many of those fights, and has launched a streaming service of its own to show fights and other events at $4.99 a month.
The early signs are promising but Joshua v Wilder in April is a must if DAZN are too muscle their way into the market place with a bang in 2019.
Povetkin was respectful in his succinct responses and acknowledged the calibre of fighter he is stepping in against on September 22.
“If Wilder doesn’t want the fight, then Miller is a definite front runner, especially after today. It’s another thing doing”.
‘I’ve come to thinking that to be an icon and a legend you need to attach yourself to a cause. People just play around with your feelings.
“And the time they found it, the time before the fight, was very, very minor in quantity”. What do we have to lie about?
Parker became the first fighter to take him the distance when, amid the spectre of Wilder, Joshua’s performance was more subdued.
Wearing sunglasses and shouting at the champion, unbeaten Miller swiftly provoked an angry response from Joshua.
