Demi Lovato’s Rep Says She’s ‘Awake and with Her Family’
Demi Lovato was rushed to an L.A. hospital after reportedly suffering a heroin overdose.
“Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart detailed her personal connection to Lovato, as well as the singer and activist’s outspokenness on mental health and body image.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to CNN it received a call at 11:22 a.m. for a medical emergency and transported a 25-year-old woman to a hospital.
She even gave interviews about her new sober lifestyle while high on drugs she said, while cycling through sober companions. When she left the treatment center, she relapsed and then entered a sober living facility for a year. “I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want”, she explained.
The song ends with the lines: “I’m sorry that I’m here again, I promise I’ll get help/It wasn’t my intention, I’m sorry to myself”. But I knew that if I was honest, it would help somebody understand.
Lovato often speaks about how important her fans are to her. However on Tuesday evening, Fox announced that the episode would be replaced with another new episode, stating: “Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family”.
This suspected overdose comes right before Lovato was slated to go on tour, starting with a show in Atlantic City, N.J., that was scheduled for tomorrow.
A representative for Lovato says she is awake and recovering with her family. The Confident singer was admitted for a reported heroin overdose, but thanks to quick thinking and Narcan, is apparently stable.
She released her third album Unbroken, seen as a transition into adult pop and hip-hop.
Lovato, who began her acting career on the popular children’s series “Barney & Friends”, rose to fame on the Disney Channel.
She has been politically outspoken, pressing for gay equality and putting on a passionate performance of “Skyscraper” – another song that deals with her past self-harm – for this year’s youth-led March for Our Lives in Washington in support of gun control.
Days after announcing her relapse via “Sober” she showed off a new tattoo on Instagram. She underwent rehab in 2010, at age 18.
