Mueller, Trump Lawyers Closing In On Interview Agreement
The latest round of presidential tweets bashing special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation fueled criticism that Trump is illegally interfering with the investigation.
Years after the Miss Universe pageant, Agalarov publicist Rob Goldstone reached out to Donald Trump Jr. on behalf of the family to arrange a meeting with Russian officials in which they would offer dirt on then-rival candidate Hillary Clinton in the months before the 2016 presidential election.
Trump’s lawyers have been negotiating over an interview with Mueller since the end of previous year.
A Justice Department spokeswoman said the department had no immediate comment on Trump’s tweet about ending Mueller’s probe.
White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders played down Trump’s tweet later Wednesday.
Jens David Ohlin, a law professor at Cornell University, said the tweets would likely not be seen as an order to Sessions, but as “Trump venting his continued frustration with the fact that he can’t control the Russian Federation investigation”.
Trump has insisted there was no collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation. “He’s fighting back”, she said.

Investigators still want to have the ability to ask some follow-up questions in person, but Trump’s team doesn’t want to allow it. The president denied the claim in a tweet. United States media have claimed he has “ties” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, pointing to the Azeri businessman receiving the Order of Honor in 2013.
CNN’s Kevin Liptak reported Wednesday said that there was not one trigger for the President’s Twitter rage on Wednesday but that he’s been angry for months about Sessions and was sent into a dark place by the stories about Cohen last week.
Even as his lawyers rushed to explain what Trump intended, the president continued to tweet about the Russian Federation probe.
Balber added that his clients have no reason to believe Trump knew about the meeting with the Russian lawyer before it happened.
President Trump weighed in on the trial in a tweet, suggesting Manafort is being treated worse in jail than the notorious mobster Al Capone.
“I guess, if we were playing poker – we’re not – put up or shut up, what do you got?”
The US president has said the charges against Mr Manafort “have nothing to do with collusion”.
“Glad to see the White House finally do something about election security – even if it’s only a press conference”, tweeted Sen.
