The Buzz | Xi set to visit North Korea in September, report says
The tweet went largely uncommented on until Sunday, when ABC news interviewed U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton. “All these four countries, actually”, said Bolton, including Russian Federation.
Bolton is considered one of the leading hard-liners in the administration of President Donald Trump in dealing with Iran’s nuclear program.
White House national-security adviser John Bolton says Iran’s weapons programs will be a main topic of conversation as he meets in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The U.S. government could also agree to adjustments in U.S. military presence or activity on the peninsula that address North Korean complaints without substantially jeopardizing South Korea’s security. The fact the Bolton is stopping in Jerusalem before meeting Patrushev could signal that the Trump administration wants to hear Israel’s views and positions on Syria before discussing any possible agreement with Russian Federation on the subject.
After the initial tears at North Korea’s Diamond Mountain resort, Cha Jae-geun, an 84-year-old South Korean, and his 50-year-old North Korean nephew began an awkward exchange Monday over worldwide politics surrounding the Korean Peninsula and the origins of the war that split their family apart and killed and injured millions.
“We’re counting on North Korea following through on the commitments”, he added.
Bolton also said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to visit North Korea soon. And Kim reportedly said, “Yes”.
However, several members of the USA negotiating team, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said they had seen no progress towards denuclearisation and no sign that North Korea was prepared to negotiate seriously until the United States promised relief from sanctions in return.
In line with the reunions, South Korean President Moon Jae-in called for regularization of the cross-border event along with implementation of measures that could expand communication between the separated families, including the exchange of letters, video calls and more, at a Cheong Wa Dae meeting Monday.
The first set of U.S. sanctions against Iran that were eased under the controversial nuclear accord went back into effect earlier this month under an executive order signed by Trump, targeting financial transactions that involve United States dollars, Iran’s automotive sector, and the purchase of commercial planes and metals, including gold.
Bolton said “it’s a question of the highest importance for the United States that Iran never get a deliverable nuclear weapons capability”.
Bolton would not address the Trump comments or say what the Palestinians could expect.
A United States embassy official said the discussions with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials would include “regional security issues”.
