Serena Williams banned from wearing black catsuit at French Open
“Even more than the physical part, the emotional part is the toughest one to try to figure out for Serena to be successful. and also to feel guilt-free that she’s spending enough time with her child”, Evert added. “I just roll with it”. I just feel like I take it just as serious, if not more. “That’s been really surprising for me”.
From now on, players’ attire apparently will be subject to a dress code – and Williams’ sleek outfit is out.
The three-time victor wore the catsuit in each of the first three rounds but had to pull out of her fourth-round tie against Maria Sharapova because of injury. Serena has been coy about when she will retire, but said if she weren’t playing tennis, she’d already be pregnant with baby No. 2.
“It hasn’t quite happened”, she said. “So I think it made me more confident and maybe more relaxed”. “I feel like it will for sure pay off eventually”. Williams, who chairs the board of advisers for HuffPost’s parent company, Oath, competes in the U.S. Open beginning next week.
She will return to the court at next week’s US Open, where the 36-year-old will start her bid for a seventh title against Poland’s Magda Linette.
“I feel like if they know that some things are for health reasons, then there’s no way that they wouldn’t be OK with it”.
But when Williams took questions for the first time here on Saturday on the issue, she played down any ill-feeling.
“Records are meant to be broken”.
“I’m always living in a fantasy world”.
“For me, being around her (Alexis-Olympia) every day is super important”.
Williams did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Williams said she had a strong relationship with the federation and had spoken with Giudicelli on Friday.
Giudicelli made a point that clothing at the 2019 French Open will have “certain limits” now but also admitted that it may turn out to be hard to be too strict and unwavering.
“It doesn’t matter to me”, Williams said of her favorite’s status. “It’s not like, God, the US Open never worked out for me”.
