White House flags back at full-staff after McCain death

Two former presidents are expected to speak at US Senator John McCain’s service and he will lie in state in both Washington and Arizona as part of a cross-country funeral procession ending with his burial at the US Naval Academy, according to plans taking shape on Sunday.

Sanders declined to comment Sunday afternoon.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., who has called McCain a longtime friend in the Capitol, said in a statement Saturday he was reflecting on the last time he and his wife Marcelle saw the senator.

Trump has been extremely critical of McCain for years – claiming he should not be hailed as a hero because he was captured in battle during the Vietnam war. Over the weekend, some candidates and political organizations led get-out-the-vote efforts.
