New payment plan makes buying an Xbox easier
The all included service Xbox All Access is, for now, available only in the United States and lets selected users to get a new Xbox console with two different plans, all stretching down to two years of payments. The key difference then was that there was a $99 upfront cost, followed by monthly payments of $14.99 over its 24-month contract.
Microsoft has announced a new subscription service for Xbox which will give players a console and access to online services with no upfront cost.
Doing the math, the Xbox All Access Subscription for the Xbox One S will cost you $528 in total.
Yes, after the 24-month subscription period ends, Xbox All Access subscribers get to keep the Xbox One hardware.
Both plans offer savings over buying the console and services piecemeal: The Xbox One S plan costs approximately $530 across 24 months, while buying each piece individually would cost almost $650; the Xbox One X plan costs approximately $840 across 24 months, while buying each piece individually would cost approximately $860. Other than that, the Xbox All Access Subscription is only valid till the end of the year provided that the supplies last that long. Today we learned it’s very real, via a Microsoft blog post the company put up and swiftly deleted. It’s like buying a smartphone on EMIs as in this case, after 24 months, the hardware is yours but you would still have to continue paying for the subscription services.
The way this is going to work is that you will have to pay a monthly fee for 24 months, just like your cell phone bill.
Xbox All Access isn’t a leasing offer; it’s primarily a financing one. This means the better credit you have the less you’ll pay per month.
The two offers are an Xbox One S starting at $21.99 per month, and an Xbox One X starting at $34.99 per month.
It is interesting that this is a Microsoft special but is being financed through a Dell Preferred Account.
But the savings could amount to more than $130, Microsoft says.
It’s also worth remembering that once you’re outside of your local Microsoft Store’s standard return policy, there are no refunds or returns on Xbox All Access purchases.
Does this interest you? As with all contracts that require a monthly payment, you obviously want to a do a bit of financial planning before you commit.
“When we launched it, we thought an ever-increasing number of titles might be something that was really important to gamers”, Decker said.
